Having promoted bequests to charities for 18 years, I got a big chuckle out of the looong pause in the third frame of this Pickles cartoon.  It serves as a great reminder to respect and celebrate with our legacy donors - now - while we are both still here.

Thankful #2 Although I am thankful for clean, drinkable water, I am also thankful for controls over unwanted water.....

Although I am thankful for clean, drinkable water, I am also thankful for controls over unwanted water.  This week we are sympathetic with the folks who perished or who were severely impacted by flooding in Colorado. Having lived through several flooding situations since 1987 in my hometown of Elmhurst, I am grateful that the County and the city of Elmhurst continue to take measures to control flood waters.  See the link below for an update on Elmhurst's plans.

Thankful #1

Sometimes I feel like a professional "thanker."  Having been in fundraising for over 30 years, I've made it a habit to thank donors right away, thank them again, and try to thank the donor in ways that are meaningful for that individual.

Being thankful is also a useful and positive way to focus in on our blessings.

Today I am thankful for ready access to clean, drinkable water.

768 million people in the world do not have access to safe water. This is roughly 11% of the world's population. (WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) Report 2013 update.
